The norms, which are to be observed in the diocesan investigation for the Causes of Saints, published by this same Congregation, on the 7 of February 1983, must be taken into account.”

DECREE OF DON FRANCISCO GIL, ARCHBISHOP OF BURGOS, ANNOUNCING THE INTRODUCCION OF THE CAUSE FOR BEATIFICATION.
I MAKE KNOWN:
That seconding the desires repeatedly manifested by the servant of God John Paul II and by the present Pope, Benedict XVI, and in order to give life and testimony to the memory of the martyrs, who have given their life for the faith and in defense of virtue, we consider it appropriate to take the first steps in introducing the Beatification Cause of young Marta Obregón Rodríguez, in our diocese. On the night of the 21st to the 22nd of January 1992, in conformity with her desire to serve God and according to reliable evidence, Marta gave up her life to Jesus Christ in the defense of the virtue of purity.
After consulting the bishops in the ecclesiastical province of Burgos, who have given their written consent, and achieving the favorable opinion of other bishops and the Diocesan council, by the present EDICT, in accordance with the new laws of the Congregation for the Cause of Saints, number 11-b, from February 7th, 1983, which are to be observed in any diocesan investigation with relation to the Causes of Saints.
WE INVITE AND WE EXHORT the faithful in our Archdiocese to make known to us as soon as possible and with the due certification, the information, testimonies, news, writings, letters or any documents in their possession or with which they are familiar, whether in favor or against the cause, about her virtues, her life and the circumstances of her martyrdom.
