Dialogue between two young people
- Bah, I’m really down in the dumps today. I’ve got so many problems...
- Hey, why don’t you ask God for help through the intercession of a young girl?
- What are you talking about?
- It’s really simple. You can ask Marta Obregón to intercede for you before God. Maybe the problem won’t be miraculously solved immediately, but perhaps you’ll receive light, orientation and a certain relief.
- Yeah, but don’t you think that it’s enough just to pray to God? Why should we ask the saints?
- You’re right. The saints are not God. We don’t ask the Saints for things directly, but by praying to them we are asking God through their intercession. Do you understand what I am saying? In the same way that Jesus is the one whom God sent to preach the good news, He wants there to be missionaries as well.God has foreseen that in His plan of salvation there be people who collaborate by acting as intercessors before God. It’s certain that Jesus is the only mediator between God and men. The Bible tells us so. However that doesn’t impede the fact that He wants others to participate in His mediation.
- I think I am starting to understand what you’re saying. But, why in the world should I ask someone for help who is not even canonized yet? I don’t mind asking really famous saints like St. Francis or St. Joseph, but why Marta?
- I offer you the intercession of Marta so that you pray to her privately. You can’t do so publicly because, as you said, she is not canonized yet. But we can pray to her privately and individually. She led a life in which she grew little by little in her love for Jesus until she was murdered, because she refused to be raped. She refused for love of Jesus. Don’t you agree that Jesus would listen to her in a special way because she risked so much for Him?
- You’ve convinced me. I am going to pray to God through the intercession of Marta.
- Ah, and if the grace is granted you, don’t forget to make it known, even if it’s a really small grace.
- I will.
